Looking forward to the summer holidays and spending some much needed time on the beach! I always tend to forget something as soon as I hit the sand so this year I decided to make a comprehensive list and thought I would share it with the rest of you to get you all excited for the summer!

First off- the beach bag! I have personally been coveting this Felix Rey straw beach bag but every time I try to buy it I find that it has sold out!!

The most important thing to remember is sunscreen!! So so important and I really love Eucerin

I love straw Panama hats- they’re so old school yet so hip.

I am currently lusting over these Tom Ford sunglasses and these Valentino flip flops

And just because it is so awful to show up at the beach and then find out they don’t provide towels. I especially love the butterfly towel, all of them are by Missoni.

For the literary and stylish you must pack your Kindle (in a Smythson Kindle case nonetheless)

And for the sociable- a deck of cards

And finally………….don’t forget your phone and wallet- there’s no such thing as a free gelato!

Ring my bell! So…you may not already know but I am seriously in love with London whether it be in autumn, winter, summer or spring. This is a little ode to the beautiful front doors of the houses you get to see while walking around the capital. London’s architecture has so much character and varies from area to area which means you never get bored. It is especially beautiful in spring when the roses and cherry blossoms are in bloom. Join me for a gentle stroll down London’s colourful streets.

Here is a Georgian style Chelsea home, I love the beautiful simplicity and classical features that give this entrance a simple grandeur. Via

This house has a more cottage like feeling, with a fun pop of colour for the front door. I love the spiralling roses framing the doorway. Via

My husband is a big Led Zepplin fan so I couldn’t resist the refence! There’s nothing like a great staircase to make an entrance or just to add some interest. They range from the fantastical to the physically incomprehensible but I thought I’d share some pictures with you.

I love a litlle trompe l’oeil to start thimgs off! This is really really cool- I don’t’t know which metro station it’s in but would love to see it in real life. Via

You see this Georgian staircase design all over London and I love the designer here for taking a risk and doing something that hasn’t really been seen before in such a classical space. Via

The room here is defined by the staircase- it is so beautiful and airy and I love the clean lines and how transparent it appears. Via

This staircase is incredible- it is so grand and the symmetry is so beautiful- definitely perfect for making an entrance. Via

This stairway can be found in Gloucester Cathedral in England and although very slippery and dangerous it is such a beautiful sight! As if it has emerged from a fantasy overgrown woodland the stairs are so pretty and add such depth to the architecture. Via

We have recently moved to a new office and were delighted to find out that one of the current residents is Alexandra Llewlyn- the incredibly talented backgammon table specialist. Backgammon reminds me of every stage of my life, as being originally Lebanese backgammon is a game you see played on street corners in Beirut.

The mother of pearl and wood inlaid tables have only recently been revamped by designers. Here are some beautiful and original backgammon tables that evoke memories of summer vacations and being back home.

There’s nothing like a black and white floor to make a grand entrance! I love this design feature as it is so versatile and the possibilities are endless, via. Patterned floors are my secret obsession and when they are created in black and white you can never really get bored of them- it takes the room to another level.

What is particularly interesting is how you can create completely different looks  with this feature- an area can be made to look classical or edgy, romantic or minimalist or just totally opulent. This effect can be created by using so many different mediums ranging from marble, ceramic tiles, lino, carpet or even just paint.

The floor becomes the piece de resistance of the room and therefore less of the budget can go on the furniture. We would suggest simple black or white furniture, gold or silver accents pieces and a pop of colour in the accessories to make it all come together.

This stairway looks very clean but the geometric pattern makes it stand out more, via.

I love this pattern- it is quite classic hollywood regency which is a design era I love as it involves a lot of mixing and matching and is always glamorous, via.

A classic chevron pattern in a not so classical room, via.

Black and white patterned ceilings and floors are used here, I love the gold ceiling light used as it makes a bold contrast, via.

An otherwise very simple bathroom is given a pop by the use of this twist on a chevron pattern, via.

This bathroom is very interesting because of the rare use of a black and white floor in a fluid pattern as opposed to something geometric. This floor makes the whole room, via.

Malachite is a very special stone with a very special pattern and effect. I love the emerald green hues of it and find it really helps to create a glamorous and ecclectic look when used appropriately.

I also love when it is used in abundance (as some might say ‘inappropriately’) as with a lot of Tony Ducette’s designs because I am a big believer in his philosophy of More is More, within reason!

We’re looking to add some malachite in a study we are at at the early stages of designing. Whether it be in an accessory or a fabric, what are your thoughts?

Just a little introduction to tell you a bit about Domicilium Designs and our blog. We are a London based interior design firm working on projects all over the world and this means that we are constantly looking for new inspiration while trying to create beautiful, bespoke and unique schemes.

The journey is a fun one- from travelling near and far and sourcing furniture, fabrics, lighting and decorative ideas in all kinds of obscure places. We wanted to share this journey with you and thought the best way to do it is through a blog- that way we can also see what inspires you and create dialogue which is imperative in the creative process.

Here we will share our musings with you on interior design, architecture, travel, fashion, lifestyle and anything that tickles our fancy. We hope that our posts will add a smile to your face…..

I dont know what it is about blue, but it looks like its the new black! From world famous and iconic designers like David Collins, to the simple blue trademark rooftops of Greece, blue seems to be the coolest colour around. We are working on several projects at the moment and taking inspiration from the brilliant and bright, to the more subtle shades…

It is amazing how this simple royal blue runner of prayer carpets completely transforms an otherwise bare and minimal mosque into a vibrant place of spirituality

Its official… I’ve got the hots for blue!

Maybe because I am so in love with leopard print in fashion it has made me a bit gaga about using leopard print in interiors. I am currently reorganising my living room space and want to add a leopard print bench to add a pop of colour and vintage glamour so have been searching for inspiration from near and far, join me on my journey…

I don’t know if these are sexy or cute but I know I want them!!
